Land and Sea is please to present its first tangible effort of 2012:
Paths and Ways-a monograph by Oakland California based artist Kelly Ording.
Ordings beautiful and sophisticated natural and geometric patterning runs through-out the book,
forming a loose narrative which reveals details of her paper staining process and stunning line work.
The Robert Frost poem, THE ROAD NOT TAKEN, sets the tone.
Kelly Ording has exhibited nationally and graduated with her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.
The book itself is 88 pages, black ink on off-white paper, soft cover, hand numbered and hand stamped.
The edition size is 55, five of which have an original drawing bound into the book and are signed by the artist.
These are available now, and will not last long.

DESCRIPTION:
Guerrero Gallery is pleased to announce the first collaborative effort by bay area based artists Jason Michael Leggiere and Christopher Robin Duncan. “Sound and Shape” is an audience participatory and optically challenging sound sculpture based on basic triangular shapes. The negative space of the sculpture is filled with stretched piano wire (think post-modern harp), intended to be touched, felt or played by visitors. A horn speaker at the base of the sculpture, powered by hand built tube electronics, emits resulting amplified tones. Resting upon a mirrored floor that revisualizes the sculpture’s triangles into diamonds, viewers can easily become engulfed by the sonic and visual noise.
Over the duration of the exhibition, Guerrero Gallery will host several performances by local musicians invited by Duncan and Leggiere. While some performances will incorporate it as a primary instrument, others will include it as a conceptual invocation of sound by its mere presence.

Kala's Fellowship program includes a series of artists' talks by our current
Fellows. Over the next several months, each of our nine artists will give a
presentation of their work and discuss their current residency projects at Kala.
Chris Duncan, Oakland, CA
Chris Duncan's residency at Kala will expand on his multi-faceted identity as
artist, curator and zine publisher. His residency project will focus on the creation
of a book coupled with collaborative drumming and electronic media, and the
production of an album cover for this new sound work. We promise that Chris' talk
will be extremely unusual - more drumming, less talking.
For several months at Kala, chris held late night jam sessions with a rotating cast of musicians and artists. There were no rules. Harsh, chaotic moments ebbed and flowed between harmonious moments. The lecture will focus on and reflect those sessions: THE SUN.
Audience participation is a
must! Chris'work was most recently presented by Baer Ridgway Exhibitions at the
Miami 2009 NADA Art Fair.
